Why does my hardware-store copy not work?
Usually a worn original copied on a loose machine. The new key inherits the wear plus the machine error. We cut on calibrated equipment and, when possible, cut to the lock code so the key is accurate, not a copy of a copy.
Can you copy a "do not duplicate" key?

Do you copy car keys with chips?
