Standard metal keys
Older vehicles may use a simpler metal key. Lost, worn, or broken, we cut a replacement from the code.

Lost every key to the car? We can usually make a new one right in your driveway.
Car key help
When you lose your car keys, the dealer's plan usually involves a tow truck, a few days wait, and a bill that makes you wince. We do it differently. For most vehicles we pull the key code, cut a fresh key, and program it to your car's immobilizer right where it is parked. No tow, and often a fraction of the dealer price.
Being NASTF registered is what makes that possible. The National Automotive Service Task Force is how qualified locksmiths access manufacturer-authorized key codes. Plenty of ad-only locksmiths cannot do real programming. We can.
When you call about a lost or broken car key, have the year, make, model, and if possible the VIN handy. The VIN is usually on the dash by the windshield or on the door-jamb sticker. It helps us confirm the correct key code and bring the right blank.
We also verify ownership before cutting and programming a key to any vehicle. It is a quick step that protects you and keeps the process legitimate.
If you still have one working key, the time to get a spare is now. Cutting a spare alongside the original is faster and cheaper than replacing a lost key from scratch, especially on newer transponder systems where the programming cost is the same either way.
A spare also means a lost key is an inconvenience, not an emergency. We cut and program spares on site for most makes at the same visit as any other automotive job.
Most cars built since the late 1990s use a transponder key, a chip in the head of the key that the car checks for before it will start. A key cut at a hardware store traces the blade but cannot copy the chip, so it turns the lock and the ignition but the engine never fires. The immobilizer is doing its job against an unrecognized key.
To make a working key we do both halves of the job: cut the blade to your lock and program the transponder chip to your car's immobilizer. We carry the cutting and programming equipment to your vehicle, so a chip key or remote head key gets done on site for most makes, no dealer trip.
What we replace
Not every car key is the same job. Older vehicles often use a simple metal key that just needs cutting, while newer ones rely on chips, remotes, and push-button start systems that have to be programmed to the vehicle before they will work. When you call we will ask what kind of key you have to point you toward the correct fix from the start.

Many vehicles use a chip inside the key. The key has to be cut and programmed correctly so the vehicle recognizes it and starts.
Some keys include lock, unlock, and push-start buttons. These need extra vehicle-specific programming steps.
If you still have one working key, making a spare now is simpler and cheaper than waiting until it is gone.
How it works
We confirm the vehicle, verify ownership, and quote the price before a single cut is made. Most cars and trucks get a working key on the same visit, no tow required.
We confirm the vehicle, key situation, location, and ownership details.
We confirm that mobile key service makes sense for your vehicle before dispatching.
The technician explains the work and gives you the price before cutting or programming starts.
We cut, program, and test the key at your location before leaving.
Cost and options
A basic duplicate key is not the same job as replacing a lost smart key with no spare. The price depends on the vehicle, the key system, programming needs, and whether the car is stuck somewhere.
We quote the specific price for your car on the phone once you give us the year, make, and model. No teaser pricing.
Final price confirmed before work starts. Exact cost depends on vehicle, key type, and programming requirements.

These answers cover what we hear most. A quick call is still the fastest way to confirm the details for your exact situation.
Yes, for most vehicles. We pull the key code through our NASTF registration, cut a new key, and program it to your car on site. No original key required.
Often significantly, plus you skip the tow. Savings depend on the vehicle, but many customers save a hundred dollars or more, and we come to the car instead of you bringing it in.
Because programming a key to a vehicle is exactly what a thief would want. Checking ownership protects you and keeps us on the right side of NASTF rules. It is a quick step.
For most vehicles, cutting and programming a replacement takes about 20 to 45 minutes once we are on site. Some high-security or push-to-start models take longer, and we will tell you when you call.
