About J&M Locksmith

The man behind the van

Eugene Rozhavsky was born in Eastern Europe and came to America the way most immigrants do: with very little in his pocket and a lot of ambition. He landed in Boston, where a friend introduced him to the locksmith trade. He took to it immediately. There was something satisfying about the work, mechanical, precise, and deeply useful. People called you in their worst moments, locked out, broken in, scared, and you fixed it. You left them in a better situation than you found them.

Eugene built a reputation in Boston doing honest work at fair prices. But the more time he spent in the industry, the more he noticed something that bothered him. Locksmith scams were everywhere: phone farms operating out of apartments advertising under dozens of fake local names, technicians quoting $15 to unlock a door then billing $300, padlocks drilled when they could have been picked, locks replaced when they only needed rekeying. It was a racket that preyed on people at their most vulnerable moments.

When life brought Eugene south to Atlanta in the early 2010s, he saw the same pattern in a bigger city with less accountability. Atlanta was growing fast: new homeowners, new businesses, new cars, and the same swarm of predatory operators looking to take advantage of anyone who searched “locksmith near me” in a panic.

In 2013 he launched J&M Locksmith out of Atlanta: just him, a van, and a commitment to quoting upfront and charging what he said he would. No bait-and-switch, no inflated emergency fees, no drilling a lock that could be opened by hand. Just honest work, fair prices, and a real locksmith who picks up the phone. More than a decade later, J&M serves the entire metro Atlanta area, residential, commercial, and automotive, with the same values. When you call, you reach the people who actually work the locks, not a national call center routing your job to whoever is cheapest.

What we believe about pricing

The locksmith trade has a reputation problem, and it’s earned. It’s the exact thing that drove Eugene to start J&M in the first place. Too many outfits advertise a $19 service call and hand you a $300 bill in the driveway. We hate that as much as you do. So we quote on the phone, we honor the quote, and if a job turns out to be simpler than expected, the price comes down, not up. Most of our work is repeat customers and word of mouth, and you don’t keep neighbors by gouging them.

The areas we know

We spend most of our days inside the perimeter and just north of it: Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Sandy Springs, Decatur. We know which Buckhead high-rises need a callback to the front desk, which Decatur bungalows still have 1940s mortise locks, and where the parking decks at Lenox and Phipps swallow your cell signal. That local knowledge means we get to you faster and fix it right the first time.

Giving back to the people who serve

We offer discounts to veterans and first responders, no paperwork hassle. Just mention it when you call. It’s a small thank-you to the folks who answer their own emergency calls.
